“I literally cannot express how amazing this house is. From top to bottom this has been my best Airbnb experience ever and I travel from city to city every week. Our entire group of 9 was so incredibly happy and Clive was warm, welcoming, and quick to respond. The kitchen is spectacular, the bedrooms and beds are spacious and comfortable. The living spaces are large and inviting. If we’re ever back in Dayton, we will try to stay at the Balsley House. We didn’t want to leave. if you are anywhere near Dayton STAY HERE:)”

“What an experience this was! Absolutely loved The Balsey House and can’t say enough great things about our time there! The swing in the upstairs hallway was the most memorable and unique part. The decor and design was impeccable! The snacks to welcome us was such a pleasant and unexpected added touch of class. Loved all the restaurants and shops in walking distance. “If you are looking for a special place, this is the house. The historical artifacts throughout are unbelievable . The bedrooms and bathrooms were beautifully redesigned and the kitchen was amazing. the house just seemed to go on forever. our group really enjoyed the swing on the second floor! great place for larger groups celebrating a special occasion. this place is better than A+++ from our perspective.

“You will not be disappointed if you stay here! My husband and I had a small, intimate wedding at this house, and it was perfect.
Guests were free to walk around and explore the many treasures this house has to offer. Every one of the guests raved about the house and its interior decorating. The massage chair on the third floor was a huge hit.

We had out of town family stay at the house on the night of the wedding. There are 4 bedrooms on the second floor where we had our guests stay, and my husband and I stayed on the third floor. It worked out perfectly.

I cannot say enough good things about Clive (and his wife!) they went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding day was special”

“We rented this house for our University of Dayton Reunion weekend and it was nothing short of ideal. we were close enough to campus to dip into the organized events - but had our house as a central gathering spot for our friends before and after events. Clive and his wife have restored the Balsley house with exquisite taste and charm. the bedrooms are spacious and the beds are super comfy. all the bedrooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors so very quiet even if people are downstairs. The Kitchen was the best part vc it’s just ideal for gathering and reconnecting overt food and drink. it is stocked with every amenity, highly end. Clive spared no expense on appliances, flatware, linens…you name it. He was on time for check-in, very accommodating with our timing needs and super communicative. it was a fantastic stay that made our reunion even more memorable than they typically are. HIGHLY recommend”

“This is a very luxurious historical home! The owners have gone over the top in adding luxurious bedding pillows towels fixtures and so much more ... you will feel like royalty when you stay in this historical home. There is so much room for privacy and to gather as family. The owner Clive was very attentive and assisted us with all of our plans for the weekend so that we would have a perfect weekend! This home is spotless and has large over stocked kitchen for food prep and eating. You will not regret staying here; you will feel like royalty!”

“This is one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed! Set in the Oregon district of Dayton one block from restaurants and shops and just a couple miles from the University of Dayton is this lovingly restored and updated historic house with current amenities (incredible bathrooms, beds, and kitchen!). Clive has clearly done this as a labor of love with no detail left undone. He has one of John Balsley’s stepladders hanging in the house, copies of his patents, framed exposed plaster from the original house, and framed exposure wallpaper from the 1913 flood. We rented the house for a wedding weekend and had multiple family gathering in the large dinning room, incredible kitchen, and stayed up late talking in the parlor and sitting room. He was almost done with a beautiful patio which could also be used. Overall, cannot say enough positives about this incredible property.”

“My experience at the Balsley House and with Clive was completely amazing. He is hospitable, communicative, and always willing to help. Definitely one of the nicest people I have ever worked with and is great to talk to. The house is so beautiful and thoughtfully laid out. There is wall to wall character throughout the home, but the amenities are modern enough to be functional. If you’re thinking about booking, I would definitely recommend it! “Our stay at the Balsley House was one we will never forget. Clive helped us make our wedding day all we could have hoped for on short notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Home was fabulous, definitely the nicest Airbnb that we’ve stayed at. Beautiful furnishings, equipped with everything you need & very clean. Pictures and description are exactly what it is. Clive is the perfect host....very welcoming! He had welcome drinks and snacks for us along with coffee bar that had snacks and munchies. He was accommodating and was always available if we needed to ask a question. Not only was house over our expectations so was location. Close to everything. Would definitely recommend!!!”
